Air Conditioning Re-Gassing & Recharging

Get Cool - Keep Cool

AJ Garage is fully licenced to handle Air-Conditioning Refrigeration gasses and provide a regassing & re-charging services to motorists with both Old & Newer Generation Environmentally friendly gasses.

Old & New AC Gasses

OK!  It's all a little technical, but the short story is that very old Air Conditioning systems used notorious CFC Gasses - which made a massive contribution to the hole in the earth's Ozone layer, so these gasses were outlawed many years ago.  A replacement gas was introduced in the 1990s under the term HFC, and whilst HFC was definitely good for the Ozone, it was not really good for the environment and in particular for global warming.  These HFC have now been replaced in modern vehicles and are now referred to as "Old Gas". These old gasses have not yet been outlawed and many older vehicles still use HFC. If your vehicle was built before 2009, it is likely to be using Old Gas.  By 2009 (in in some cases earlier) NEW Gas was introduced by many car manufacturers and it is called HFO (HFO1234YF) which has proved really quite good for the environment, the Ozone layer AND has virtually no effect on global warming. (Harah!)

On the DOWN Side however, it is toxic stuff and technicians who handle it MUST be trained and licenced.  Once it is inside your air conditioning system, it is safe, but handling it in the workshop needs care and skill.

AJ Garage Services is licenced to handle and re-gas air conditioning systems which use both Old & New gasses.

AC not cooling you down?

If your air-con is not blowing cold, it is likely to have lost its refrigeration gas over time and will need re-charging.

BUT WAIT!  There's no point re-gassing your AC if there is an obvious leak.

AJ Garage Services will inspect and pressure test your AC before we re-charged it. (Our High-Tech equipment also cleans the gas and removes any contaminants - like water vapour).

So if you're not cool in the car during the balmy Welsh summer, give AJ Garage Services a call.
